On Saturday 21st May we welcomed lots of ladies to our Bendigo "Appliqué In", and we could tell straight away we we in for a fun day...there are a lot of photos in this post but we wanted to show you as many of the amazing quilts as we could, from the stunning "Show and Tell" Bendigo had planned for us.
First of all we would like to send a huge Thank You to every one that came along to our first Bendigo "Appliqué In"..it was a truly fabulous day, and everyone that attended contributed to the great atmosphere in the hall...lots of smiles, lots of happy sewers and the most astounding show and tell.
Boy, Bendigo, you are a very talented bunch...we are so glad you brought so many wonderful pieces of your work for Show and Tell....we were treated to a show of the most beautiful work and there were gasps around the hall as the quilts were held up.
We were also lucky enough to to have a visit from The Lions Club of Quilters with their jaw dropping new quilt "The Journey". Thank you so much to Robyn Falloon, Liz Willing and Ruth Nunn for coming along and talking to us about your amazing quilt, "The Journey". This very special quilt was designed and made by group of women intent on making a difference in the world, and as we know, quilters can do great things when they set their minds to it.
Thanks also go to the two wonderful shops that came along with their wares for us to feast on...The Village Patch from Maldon and The Quilting Patch from Rochester were both in attendance with tables full of treasures to tempt us...what a wonderful collection of fabric, books, and notions we had to choose from. Lots of us left with smiling faces and brown paper carry bags to add to our stash.
There was a hall full of happy women all busy sewing on our latest projects and a large and very yummy selection of cakes and biscuits to give us the energy we needed for all that sewing. Seems not only are the Bendigo Ladies amazingly talented sewers but they are pretty darn good cooks as well.
Thank you so much for the generosity of those who donated such fabulous lucky door prizes and raffle prizes...there were shrieks of joy around the hall as lucky numbers were drawn and prizes handed out.
And as for the "Show and Tell"...it was breathtaking....we can't show you all the amazing quilts we saw on the day but we have chosen some to show you and we are sure you will agree that the Bendigo Ladies sure do love their appliqué.
Better late than never, but I enjoyed the blog, Annabelle, and the great photos. Sorry I missed the day but look forward to the next applique-in.
