How long have you been doing Applique?

Not long, the first appliqué quilt I made was in January 2016 and I had previously made one small hand appliqué piece the year before.

What drew you to appliqué?

I love arranging small pieces of fabric into a cohesive design.

What is your preferred type of Applique?

So far I have only created pieces using the raw edge and the faux appliqué method, but I am intending to learn raw edge appliqué.

Do you have a preferred range of fabrics to work with?

I tended to lean towards very bright colourful fabrics, but recently I have been moving towards the softer, flowery fabric ranges.

How did you feel when your quilts won so many awards at the recent quilt show? What were the awards for?

I was overwhelmed to receive so many awards at showcase; I certainly did not expect it, especially in the Applique section where there were so many amazing quilts.

I received a first in the modern quilting section,  a runners up in the innovative section and a second highly commended in the appliqué section.

Where do you see your appliqué and quilting in the next 5-10 years

Interesting question and I have no idea, I try to not to plan too far ahead, Each day I wake up with a passion for creating and I just want to enjoy each day that I get to do something that I love.

Thanks Sue and Carolyn, see you on the 7th October
