Alison Gardner

In 1992 I attended the inaugural exhibition of the Goldfields Quilters in Castlemaine, Central Victoria. I had a sewing background but had not been exposed to patchwork and quilting until this time. I loved what I saw that day. I enrolled in a beginners 8 week class at the local patchwork shop, Threadbear and have been smitten with this style of needlework since.

I like both hand and machine piecing and quilting. I enjoy participating in classes where so much can be learnt and new friends made. In recent years my main interest has been antique quilts and I enjoy learning about the many historical aspects surrounding them from tutors, quilt study groups, sessional days and books.

I am working on developing my skills in appliqué and my favourite technique at the moment is needle turn.
